Ok so I think I finally got the specs and prices and piping answers that I
needed..thanks guys..I was thinking though..My fireplace doesnt have a hearth,
it lays right to the floor. Would I need to build a raised hearth (floor
protection) before installation..or does the insert come with little pins that
raise it up some. From some pics Ive seen of the Breckwell P23I, it looks like
it has little pin legs in front. And has anyone here just decided to cut a hole
in the back of their fireplace and insert all the piping and stuff through the
back of the fireplace and out instead of up it? thanks!!!

I'm assuming this is a pellet installation. Moving to that forum for better responses. Normally pellet inserts just need a non-combustible hearth, but follow the manual for this.

As for the vent, go straight up to avoid exhaust darkening on the side of the house and to get better draft. That's a good thing when the power suddenly dies and the stove is going.
