Intending for the hearthpad to be 1.5-2 inch stone. Small lopi stove. What do I need UNDER the stone. Oddity of an old house means the base will be a mix of brick, old concrete, and wood.
 
Depends largely on the specific stove's R value requirement for a hearth. It should be in the manual . . . barring that, let us know which model you have and folks may be able to help.

Some stoves only require ember protection so a base of concrete or cement board with stone mortared on top will suffice . . . other stoves may have a specific insulation requirement which may mean you need to have an air space, use insulation, etc.
