When they inspected and cleaned the chimney did they inspect the catalysts? They are notorious for clogging and need routine maintenance about every cord or so of burning.

Yeah, afraid to do that. Already fear burning down my house.
It would be worth paying a certified chimney sweep that is not affiliated with the installing company to come out and make sure that the liner to stovepipe connection is good. It could be that the ceramic thimble is just a pass-thru and the actual mechanical connection between the stovepipe stub and the stainless steel liner is good. We can not tell this over the internet. The sweep can also determine if the liner is insulated or not.

This^
Crucial.
There is a ytube vid detailing this cleaning routine nicely. Would not be surprised that this needs to be performed.

Hi Kat, I just found this thread and want to right more when I have a little more time to think it through, but I wanted to give you some brief feedback and ask a few questions right now.

My Hearthstone Clydesdale was installed last week. I've never had a woodstove of any kind before, wanted the insert to be able to use the fireplace without spending an arm and leg to heat the house. We are still going through the small burn-in fire phaseof the stove. We also had a lot of trouble with smoke. One smoky incident filled the living room to the extent we had to open two windows and the front door and blow two fans for 15 minutes to get the smoke out! It was extremely scary and frustrating. The problem was that my large exterior brick chimney took forever to warm up and establish a draft, even in the insulated liner. Once i figured things out, the stove fires up quickly and easily and completely smoke-free. There is hope! I relied heavily on ChatGPT to walk me through the process and provide some much-needed reassurance (yes, really!). I have the paid subscription to ChatGPT and it has more than paid for itself in the advice I've received for many different things. Anyway, what part of Pennsylvania are you in? I'm in Frederick County, Maryland between Rt 15 and the mountains. We may have similar weather.
