HearthStone III ???

I found someone selling a hearthstone III. they say it was built in 1994 or so. it is soapstone stove. to what new hearthstone model does it most closely compare? the mansfield? the phoenix? the heritage? is it as efficient as the new stoves? i am currently considering the mansfield for my needs. does the hearthstone III pale in comparison to the effiecency and heating capability of the hearthstone mansfield? any info on the heathstone III is greatly appreciated. thanks.

They made two versions. One was catalytic the other was not. The cat model was 23,000 btu's, the non cat was 35,000 btus. It weighs 420 lbs. The cat model takes a 14" log, the non-cat a 16" log.

so it looks like its no where near the capabilities of the mansfield. i'll go take a look as its close by, but i think i'll be passing on it. just out of curiosity, what would one in nice shape go for?

Oh Im not sure, the stove is close to 20 years old. The old Hearthstones are great looking. The H3 is very unique looking. I wouldnt pay more than 500 or $600 personally.

i am, thats why i was asking specifically how this model stacks up to the mansfield. i came across the III in the local paper and wanted to know more before buying anything.

I hope this helped you. The Mansfield is about as good as it gets for its heat range, 79K/BTU. If you like the stove and its a deal you should go for it.
