Pretty sure you will have to do something about that wooden mantel, no matter what stove you get.

I am also going to call Woodstock on Monday and see about clearances for a progress hybrid. If I did that with a rebate it would still be a few thousand less than the Lopi. The Lopi dealer is very reputable around here and stops the for 40 years and also sells hearthstone. The hearthstone was significantly more and he talked me out of it but only when I asked his opinion. I had originally called for a hearthstone quote and that’s what he gave me. Once I asked how it compares to Lopi he said “I’m biased….” This gave me a lot of confidence as I do feel dealer support and install is worthwhile. That said 3-4k savings can be a lot of insulation I also need.

Interesting? I had to submit photos to the dealer and this didn’t come up. Probably because he wanted to set the stove far back. My concern with that is radiating the heat but also I actually want to see the stove.

New Progress Hybrid owner here. It’s an amazing stove. I’ve been burning wood since 1978, and this is by far the nicest stove I’ve ever had or would imagine. (But to be fair, the last 17 years I’ve been burning an undersized “retro” stove, so newer cat design and hybrid technology is new to me. Other stoves might also wow me.)

I was at Woodstock yesterday talking to the owner and plant manager a bit. They are working like mad to get existing Progress orders on the loading dock by 12/31. You will not get one by then if you order now. Still, even without the tax rebate, I think the Progress comes out cheaper than either of the stoves you’re looking at? And IMO better. Depending on your shipping solution. They won’t ship; you have to set that up.

It may take modifying the mantel a bit to meet clearance requiremnts. If the wide center panel was cut to the height of the left side, what would the clearance above the stove top be then?
