For my area residential propane is 127% more expensive than wholesale, I realize that there is transportation, storage, misc middleman stuff in-between the wholesale spigot at the refinery or natural gas well and the truck that shows up at my door, but that seems ridiculously excessive.
Roughly 126% increase over 10 years, I see a coal or pellet boiler in my house's very near future!

Ha short driver. My commute is 65 miles each way that's 130 miles round trip every day. My monthly fuel cost is about 310 just to commute. That doesn't include driving my son all over town for sports and other activities.

Don't remind me.. I was calculating my pro PAIN usage for heating hot water last night. I have one of those insta hots. At 3.80/gallon for propane it is really expensive to heat water. I am thinking about replacing it with a regular ol electric water heater.
I also have a propane cook stove, generator, and clothes dryer. It would be the deal if is was $1.70/gallon like it used to be.

I feel your pain. I put about 500 miles a week on the car. It's good on fuel though, 40+mpg... though diesel is $4.15 so it still hurts.

Never having used propane I just took a look at the numbers for Maine and found this. I was surprised to see that propane costs more than oil. What do you think about the efficiency numbers? I got them from a "Fuel Value Calculator" that is put out by the US Forest Service so I wonder if the efficiency ratings for the heating appliances are adjusted in favor of wood..
