Hi all,

Just bought my first house and hearth and came across this place trying to identify my stove to keep the insurance man happy! Figured I'd drop in and say hello after posting in the pre-88 forum.

Never knew there was this much to discuss regarding wood stoves! Great site you have here.

Welcome to the forum! A lot of great info on here. I learn something new every day

Welcome to the forum. Tons of good info to read up on. Lots of good people to ask questions of or bounce ideas off of. Stick around. It is pretty hard not to learn something new.

(That was your second post, and my 11002.==c)

LEAVE NOW......you are about to spend all of your free time here. I know one guy who hasn't logged off in 3 years, his wife even left him. Soon you will be hoarding firewood and checking out your neighbor's stacks. I got a halz hausen tattoo last year. You have been warned!

Welcome to the nuthouse, rbrooks......
Listen to Jack, LEAVE NOW. The addiction only gets worse and worse and WORSE. And do your blood pressure a favor and just STAY OUT OF THE ASH CAN FORUM........;)

Seriously, welcome to the club. Lots of good folks here, lots of good info here, and even an occasional kick in the ribs (ash can). I'll say one thing, you'll make lots of good friends here, and you'll learn more about woodburning than you can ever imagine.

One more thing, WE LOVE LOTS OF PICS. Keep us posted on your firewood adventures, woodstove maintenance, chainsaws, logging equipment, trucks, trailers, dogs, fishing trips and even your lawnmowers......we'll love ya for it....

Welcome to the Hearth, rbrooks. I would have chimed in earlier, but I was outside cutting wood.:)
Your story is pretty much how I found this place.
Still haven't left, and it's been about 6 years.
Others have been here since the dawn of time.:p
Never did get any info on my stove, but learned a whole bunch of other good info that I like to think has made me a better burner and wood gatherer and an all around better person.
Probably helps me keep from losing my hair too.;)

I'm probably not one of them

cheers

ps we will make your decisions more difficult

Welcome.

Give the wallet to your spouse before you go browsing in the "gear" forum. I didn't realize how much stuff I wanted till I started hanging out there. Fair warning.

Welcome aboard! Learn what truly dry wood is, and use it. It's all in the wrist. Multiple thin coats. Don't pick at it, or it will get worse.

That's all the good advice I can give.

Welcome to the forums !!!

Dry fire wood, split vertically ( :p ), and post pics.

Welcome to the forum rbrooks.
