Before Christmas, I joined a group of guys from my church to cut and split wood for a friend. Her husband died of cancer a couple of years ago. She has family nearby but they need help once or twice a year to cut and split wood for her outdoor furnace. She runs a small food producing coop and uses the furnace to heat her greenhouses in the spring. I feel better about spending money on a log splitter (verticle in the background) when I can use it to help others.

Good on you! Time was if you wanted help you got it from your neighbors like this and everyone felt good about helping you out. Now we don't even know our neighbors and everything comes with an expectation.

That looks like a more than ample amount of wood too. How'd the splitter work out?
