Bought some property in the eastern panhandle of WV. A majority of the trees look like this:

Not sure what they are.

Black Cherry is a nice middle of the road hardwood. Reasonably dense, reasonably quick to season, reasonably easy to split.
 
If there are any large black cherry the timber value can be very good.

. . . and wicked nice smelling. I can never split black cherry without stopping at least a couple of times to stop and sniff that sweet smelling wood.
