help with feed adj.testing pellets harman xxv

helllloooo to the forum.new here and great info on pellet stoves for a newbie like me.just got a harman xxv in sept. to say good-bye to the oil man.have been testing every type of pellet i can get my hands on here in upstate n.y.i noticed different pellets require to move the feed higher or lower.my question is when i move the feed down from say 4 to 2 i also lose alot of heat output and throws off my variables when comparing pellets.for example with Hamers hot ones i have to turn the feed to below 2 setting or the pellets will be spilling over the edge only half burned.yet okanaga platniums can see a 4 feed setting with no problem
