Hi everyone.

I am looking to put a multi fuel stove in our sitting/kitchen room. As you can see from the image I am looking to build a small brick fireplace to accommodate the stove and keep it a bit safer from my 3 year old! As you can see I am running a 6" flue pipe from the stove up towards the ceiling and then into a twin flue pipe which is 6 inches below the ceiling.

My problem is what can I put on top of the fireplace so I can use as a mantle remembering I have a 6" flue pipe to go through it. I dont want to go twin wall through it and then into single and then back in to twin wall to go through the ceiling, plus I don't want a twin wall from the stove through the ceiling because I have been told I would lose a lot of heat.

Hope you guys can come up with some suggestions.
Thanks for your time
Darren

Welcome Darren. Cap it with some nice contrasting stone or brick.

DD33 I have a 3.5 year old and a 7 month old. I found a saftey gate that solved all of my problems. I have an insert , but the gate will work for a free standing stove and in front of the insert. If you are looking to save some money and have that added level of saftey.....this is the way to go. Plus when your child/children are older you can remove the gate.

Just a thought.
