Hi guys,
I am a longtime reader first time poster. There is great information here. Thank you for this.

I am about to buy a Hearthstone Heritage. The main reasons are that I do not want to be heated out of the room it will be in, roughly 600 square foot semi finished basement, and that I do want the residual heat during the shoulder seasons. This way I can build one fire a day during those cooler months.
But during the really cold period, I will sometimes be away for work for a few days to a week. Should I start with another break in fire like you do for the first fire of the season to prevent shocking the stone?

Thanks again guys.

There's no reason to do an additional break-in fire during the season.
