Hole in my liner-repair(pic)

Can I repair this or should I replace it? It's right where the 90 is outside my home. Thanks for any advice. Looks like it's been this way for some time, is it safe to burn with it like this?

It's 6" ID double wall stainless. Hole is inside right where the horizontal pipe coming out of my basement connects to the vertical outside the house. Hopefully that answers your question. Thanks

it's hard to see but it looks like it's the paint peeling. anyway you could just replace the piece if it is rotted through.

That is an unusual location for a flaw. It's hard to see any hole. Is the pipe under warranty?

I just moved in last year do I doubt the warranty carries over. It's about 3 years old I believe.

If the part has a physical hole in it, it should be replaced. I'm still trying to visually orient myself in the second picture. It almost looks like some aluminum tape is in there. What direction are we looking? Up from the tee's end cap? Where is that black shiny creosote area? It looks like a serious cleaning is needed there.

If you can find out what kind of pipe it is, maybe contact the manufacturer? They'd be the most familiar with the tolerances of their stuff and then you'd know for sure

It looks like the labels are still on the tee. Not sure if they are still legible though.

Yes it's looking up from the tee cap on the bottom of the vertical. The black shinny area is the horizontal coming through the house. I'm not sure if that's sold as one piece or two and field welded together?

it's just an odd place for a rot hole. it looks like it is at a joint. this is why I asked about a screw.

It looks like a piece flaked off. Dose the cleaning rod hit it there? Seam sealer flaking may be? Jay

I still am not sure this is a patch over a hole, but I am not seeing everything. It looks to me like it might be a piece of aluminum tape that got stuck in there, maybe by the installer and then it was left. Is that possible?

No it is a tee. It looks to have 4 pop rivets on the side and the rest is folded over. It is a hole in the inside wall. Maybe this pic will help you see it more clearly. Sorry it's dark.

I assure you, it is not tape of any sort. It's a hole and I can stick my finger in and feel the sharp edges around it. Looks like it started where the edge of the horizontal is bent over the vertical. I'm going to have to look for the manufacturer in the daylight and see if I can find a replacement I guess. What is between the two walls?

From the pic on the right in the first post, almost looks like that is just hard creosote/buildup flaking off, looks like metal behind it? If that is truly a hole you would either be touching insulation, or have about a 1" gap to the outer skin of the pipe.

Oh, and that looks like it may be Selkirk pipe?

There should be insulation between the walls. There's only air on the outer layer of triple wall class A pipe.

Bottom line here. If concerned, replace the tee and have peace of mind. But in the short term I am more concerned about the creosote build up in the horizontal section. That looks like glaze creosote. What piping is connecting to the stove on the other side of this tee?
