Did they have a lot left?? I've been waiting for them to drop the price...that's how I got my Chows a few years ago for $190.

According to the website, the Allentown store on Macarther road still had 54 ton left this morning. You can always call and check. That’s what I did. When I called, they said they had a lot left.
Lowe’s and American pools are out.

same here.... way too much ash..
almost smothers the flame overnight..

sure.. you can feed a harman anything but still doesn't lesen the ash output..

The Chows have served me pretty well in my old 25-PVDC, I can run 12ish hours without worrying about it.
However, since I normally clean the ash out 3 times a day from the burn pot, ash output isn't a concern for me..all I care about is HEAT! LOL

It's really not that bad...I just wait for the flame to die down a bit, open the door, and with a metal spoon scoop the ash out from the burn pot, dump the ash next to it, and then close the door. Takes 2 minutes, tops. Gives me a chance to also reload the hopper.

Englander calls it the, "Daily Ash Maintence". I just changed to the "3X a day ash maintenance".

Keep yourself active and warm keeping the stove clean.

I don't see spring sales here. Right now it's winter phase 2, after it got warm for awhile, the heat that went into the lakes fires back at us via lake effect, which often continues until mid May. Pellets are for sale all summer, sometimes they're nice for those cold nights. I've seen sales in August, and for Black Friday. So that's when I stock up.

I was retired for couple years and had lot of time to OCD my stove...was fun...
i deliver auto parts now 4 days a week so since i am not home to play with the stove.
that;s why i burn very low ash softwoods....
