How Do You Open Your Pellet Bags?

I am wondering how you all access your pellets. Are you a ripper, a cutter, or dumper?

Personally, I buy in bags and cut the tops off with a folding utility knife. I like to have a sharp blade, as I reuse the bags for recycling or trash.

Cut the corner and pour it right in the hopper. Make sure the plastic bag doesn't melt to the stove.

Now you tell me! Every time I cut a hole in the bottom of the bag it would make a rather large mess for the lady of the house... I mean for ME to clean up! ;-P

I am fairly anal about stuff so each bag gets a corner snipped off with a pair of scissors. Always about the same size of about 6 inches across the bottom leg. It pours a little slow this way but I like the control of having it that way besides its the way I always do it can't change that now can we...did I mention I tend to be anal about stuff!

I use a sharp pair of scissors, cut the top of the bag half open, and then grab the still sealed side, lift the bag and pour!

I tear the sucker open like a stoner with a bag of doritos and dump em in.

I rip them open too...Im throwing the bag away so I don't care what it looks like.

I just throw the bag in the hopper, auger rips it open. Gotta pay attention, though, and pull the bag back out in a couple hours, or it'll get hauled into the pot. HAPPY THANKSGIVING

I can't believe you guys aren't reusing the bags! We no longer buy trash bags now we have this new-found wealth. I got a dull pair of scissors (sharp would be better), take the whole top off, and dump the bag in the stove. I fold up the bag, and put it in the "bag of bags".

My lady uses these for trash can liners, they fit nicely in a 13 gallon can. She takes a stapler to the top when they're almost full. I'm sure that if we still end up with an overage, she'd find other uses for them.

That's a great idea! And with 2 large litter boxes because of 9 cats, I know what else I can use these for! I'm going to start that today..........

And mine just get a hole ripped in them or the top completely opened and the pellets poured in. It's just easier! lol

Scissors, cut off the entire top grab, lift and pour. Bag is now ready for its next use.

I rip the corner open, slide my fingers inside the bag and my thumb stays outside .I gather the top of the bag into my hand to use it as a carrying handle,(suitcase style) take it to the stove and pour into hopper.

If you run out of kitty litter and use pellets instead, you might not want to burn it after. ;-)

Grap the left upper corner with your right hand, make a "grunt" noise and pull to your right.

The grunt noise lets everyone know you just saved money by not buying Propane.

I have since rebuilt this pellet pig trough so I can dump all the contents of the bag with one quick slice of my utility knife

As you can see Joe, it was a first attempt - a trial run if I may just to see what I could do - I am not a professional carpenter or plumber or engineer as some folks here - just a handyman fooling with solid fuel

Now I just shake the bag into my much larger collection chamber, to release the last few bits stuck in the corners - toss it to the ground and repeat to the next bag

I loaded in 2 tons last night - I can do about three bags a minute if the drugs are working!
