How is the Powersmith ash vac working for you now and how long have you had yours?

Have been using a 5Gal Genie vac, with drywall bags, for 20yrs. Getting alittle loud,but still going strong. Just wondered if the powersmith ash vac was still as strong on the site, as last year.

The PowerSmith is great, but be aware there are some plastic parts that are not all that durable like the nozzle extension piece. Of course, I don't use that part.

It has a two wire (non-grounded) power cord and it builds up quite the static charge. Take caution if it is place near the stove where it can discharge. I suspect it cooked my control board last year!

Works great with no problems. The cleaner it is the more suction you get. No dust in room and it cleans the stove for less than 100 bucks. It is the second year for me.

Used my Powersmith all season last year (3.25 tons) and twice already this year. Still taking in all ash w no dust escaping. Suction is still fine. Well worth the $70 I paid last year. I'll echo some of the plastic parts on it aren't the most durable as my nozzle has a small crack but nothing major.

I bought mine at the end of last season and did a final clean up with it. and one good clean up so far this year. I think it work amazing, I also bought an extra filter and all the "special" attachments for an extra $30 with free shipping. plan to clean a fliter while having the other to use if needed.

I use an old vac I picked up for fifteen bucks at Goodwill. Workes fine. Cleanable filter. Use one of those As-Seen-On-TV dryer lint snakes to get the channels and under the firepot of my Harman cleaned out. Never had to vac it running.

I do occasionally run the vacuum through it real quick while it's running. You need some kind of ash vac to do that.

I've used mine about 2 full burn seasons. I made a slight modification to it, to overcome the only shortfall I've had with it. The hose can get clogged with just the right sized bits of burned wood. It does great on ash and smaller stuff, but if it sucks up marble sized stuff watch out, hose can clog.

So I used 23 gauge 1/4x1/4 hardware cloth and put on sort of a guard. Working well.

Had mine a few months now, use weekly, no complaints. I'm asking my wife to sew up an elastic band to go around it with pockets to hold the additional clean-out accessories, like the mini-hose, the brush and the offset pick for cleaning firepot holes.
