How quiet is the Jotul Winterport blower?

At the risk of repeating a post from my last thread (I'm a little afraid it's gotten lost in the shuffle there) ...

It suddenly looks like a medium insert may not fit in our fireplace (contrary to what we were told, alas). We are now looking at the Regency i1200, Pacific Energy "Vista," and the Jotul "Winterport."

This insert will be in a quiet room, reserved for reading and "zen time." We will not be masking the sound with a television, kids, etc. So it's important that it be quiet. We admit we're overly sensitive to sound.

We've listened to the PE PACIFIC (the medium one) blower in a showroom. We loved the way it looked, but found it VERY LOUD. We also looked at a Regency i2400, which was quiet -- but we didn't care for its appearance.

We're assuming that the small inserts will have roughly the same blower volume -- so that the Regency i1200 will be quieter (and less attractive!) than a PE Vista. Is that a bad assumption?

We were not able to listen to a Jotul Winterport. Is the blower volume on a Jotul more comparable in volume to the Regency? Or are they just as noisy as the PEs??

Just so you are aware- I never run my Pacific blower on high speed- it usually stays at the lowest setting and it warms my entire home just fine.
The only time I ever turn up the blower is on the very rare occasion when I let things get too hot. It cools the firebox down and I immediately turn it back down again.

Don't be afraid of a blower- all inserts have them and I can't imagine that there is all that huge a difference between them.
It's like white noise- think of it as soothing instead of intrusive.

any blower that moves a large volume of air will make noise. that's definitely a drawback of fireplace inserts operating in a main living area.

after awhile it becomes white noise...

My Winterport, on high blower speed, is a little noisy. It has some sound to it, maybe a tad softer than say a window fan or table fan but louder than a ceiling fan. I never run it on full blower mode though unless it is really cold at night and I am not in the room that it is in because holy crap it gets hot quick. Putting it on the lowest blower setting still allows for the hot air to be pushed from the stove and it warms the house very nicely. The lowest blower setting is very relaxing and not loud at all.

We love our Winterport, it does have a small fire box however, less than 2 cubic feet for sure. We can get overnight burns on it keeping the house nice and warm, there are even coals to start it up in the morning if we need too.
