Picked up a new 555 today with no bar or chain. My local shop matched the best online price. When I got home, I just had to try this thing. During high school and college I sold many Husqvarna saws...models mostly like the 350, 365, and the Rancher. I am no longer in the chain saw business but wanted a new auto tune saw. All I can say is wow with this. I found a 24in bar and chain in the garage and the 555 handeled it no problem. The saw dialed in quick and was very responsive. Cuts wood like crazy, cannot wait to break it in. Also note I started it alot today, both hot and cold, never had a problem.

Wow you went big. Only have a 20" on mine. what are you runnin for chain?

I will most likly go to 20in as well for normal cutting. The 24in is a Husky bar with 72 (3/8) oregon chain from a spool. Not that 72 chain you get from the box stores which has the big right angle rake. The 72 3/8 chain from the spool has the normal rake, and I think it cuts better and is easier to sharpen and adjust. Might also try a 3/8 .050 stihl chain...my opionon they are much better than oregon or husky chains.

As far as the documents I've seen on the saw go (I own a 555) the housing it has is only rated for a 20 inch bar.

If it works, it works. Just don't torque on things too much. The 555 is set to run either the lighter .325 bar / chain or a 3/8. The 562xp cousin is setup differently so that can carry up to a 28in bar, but won't accept a bar for a .325 chain.

Love my triple-nickle, hell of a firewood saw.

I guess I saw a few online with 24in bars. Looks like it was designed around 20in max which I will be going too for normal use. This is one heck of a saw, auto tune rocks.

Awww YEAH!!!!!! I love mine!!! The things a beast!

With auto tune saws it is important to READ the manual.

On initial start up you need to find a large log where the bar can be buried and then run the saw at least 5 -10 min. WOT while the auto tune sets up the run parameters. Cutting a few things here and there is not the way to start the life of an auto tune saw.
