I cant believe I burned 5 tons

To me last winter felt colder but the weather data says this year was in my area.
I bought 5 tones for this season and they will be gone a the end of this week plus7 bags left from last year.
It looks like I will probably hit six tons or grater as it is only March 23. I have twice picked up two 8 bag loads and will get another this week to bring my bag count back to 30 bags.

I see some are pre buying for next year but for me it is all for this year
Today high of 32 the rest of the week looks better in the 40`s lows teens and 20`s

I still feel last year was colder

This winter was definitely colder in the north east. I have 25 bags left of my 5 tons. This should get me through until April 1 but then I will either shut down for season or purchase another ton, if I can find a decent price.

Just got my stove in Jan. When I bought a ton I think my wife thought we were set for a looong time. She was amazed to see how fast a ton of pellets disappear.

I have 21 bags left out of the 4.5 tons plus some misc bags for trial. Might try to grab another dozen or so just in case as this cold keeps hanging on. used less than a 1/4 tank of oil all season though.

Yes I looked at the data it says much more colder this year. I just remember putting on more layers last year. People I talk to say this winter is a lot colder here than last. Maybe its because I was working the over night shift and my body felt it that way.

I have < 8 bags left of my 4 tons, shutting it down after that. We may make it to April 1st if the forecast of higher temps towards the end of the week are accurate. Right now slightly below normal temps would be welcomed!

I've bought between 5 & 6 tons (didn't keep real good track of individual bags bought), and have 1 ton left. My 500 gal propane tank was at 30% in October, when I bought another 150 gals - I still have 40% left (DHW, cooking stove and FHW run from propane) and I keep the inside temp at 72-73 for upstairs and downstairs.

Last season I went thru 3 tons with just the Harman - and I didn't get it installed until 1/7/14. I also burned >$3,000 in propane last year to keep the only the upstairs heated to 64F, so it is evident the new windows, insulation and vapor barrier really helped out. Sounds pretty good, but in reality is pretty sad since I only heat about 1600 sq/ft.

Last year I definitely had on more layers, just because it was so cold in the house.

15 bags short of 5 tons now, gonna use the 35 bags I have left and just wing it after that. May use a little oil just to ensure I need the minimum 100 gallons for a top-off. Who knows where oil prices will be next year.

I was picking up pellets one time at HD in November and I was shooting the breeze with some guy as they loaded a ton in my truck. He asks "So, that oughta last you all winter, right?"

I'd sell the house. Not worth going broke trying to heat a dwelling like that every winter. IMHO.

I have 1900sq ft of living space, and I expect to burn no more than 3 ton of pellets next year. This year, 3 cord of wood. I have 2 weeks of wood remaining....

12 bags left out of 285 bags purchased this season. 5.7 tons out the vent! My first season, so I was surprised as well. started with 4 tons and added as the winter got colder and supply's went down.

In 2010 I burned 1200! gallons of propane, improved my house insolation in 2011 and dropped to about 850. This year I burned 150 gallons only- over 80% reduction in my propane intake. Per my math, the 700 gallons I saved on propane went pretty much into Pellets. Propane was about $2 per gallon in my area which comes down to be close to the cost of 5.7 tons of pellets. Maybe better savings next year! its a good thing I enjoy the fire

Interesting to go back to Oct. and Dec. of 2014 (the beginning of this winter) and compare to 2013,(beginning of last winter) .... quite a bit warmer here this winter. Is there a "seasonal" chart like this? (I looked and couldn't find one) ............ would be even more useful

Burned 5 tons last year, and have already burned 5.5tons this year. According to that weather site, February was 25% colder here in Mid-Maine. I know it was brutally cold because snow was not melting off roofs, and snow was not clearing, or sliding off metal roofs. When it gets really cold, the snow doesn't slide.

Last night, it was still below zero wind-chill when I got up.

Not going broke. We need the room. Four bedrooms, 2 3/4 bath, living, dining, kitchen, enclosed porch/entry, laundry, foyer, and family room. Six people in ages 47, 44, 24, 22, 20, and 18 months. Any smaller house and I would kill someone

I can hide in ours when the Mrs has the ladies over and she can do the same on Poker Saturdays and Football Sundays when I have the crew over.

The kids keep trying to get us to downsize. Keep telling them the only reason we would do so is to avoid the kids.

192 bags in the hopper/ Switched back to the La Cretes when the lesser pellets (blazer) could not heat the house properly these last few nights.

*May have gotten a few bad bags . The last 5-6 bags produced noticeably less heat with an odd ash (compared to earlier bags ).
