I love a campfire!

Dad and I were at the farm over the weekend. The weather was great but the black flies were coming out. But it was sure nice to have a little fire.

Here is the little brush pile.

About 1/8 of the pile was dry wood from four years ago when we started on our little project. The rest was brush form the deer feed plot we are putting in and from the side of trails I am putting in. Its hard to believe you can just push a green tree out of the ground and burn it. You gotta respect the power of fire. There was a two day soaking rain before we got up. I have a pond and fire hose pump and fire hose ready just incase and the dozer ready for emergency's. I also checked the weather to make sure there was not going to be any strong winds.

Most people stir up there fire with a stick or a rake. But I use a dozer :D

I am so glad the weather cooperated and I was able to get this mess cleaned up. Its great when work is fun!

The lovely thing about using dozers to burn slash is that the engine fans blow air out through the grille. This seems fine but what happens is that the radiator becomes a filter for little pieces of organic stuff like leaves and twigs. When you roll over the fire the fan blows the little sparks into the super dry bed of tinder against your radiator and then blows on it to get it going. Watch for fire is all.

I love a good slash fire too. You can burn dirt if it's hot enough.

Nice little campfire Billy. You didn't even have to worry about tires getting hot on the dozer. lol

You are putting a lot of work into that place and it should really be nice when you get it done. Maybe sometime I'll have to pay you a visit.

Its rare that I get any pictures with me working in them. But this time my friend Scott grabbed my camera and snapped a few off.

I did that once Highbeam!

I was pushing some dead spruce across a field last year. And got a bunch of twigs on the exhaust manifold and it caught up and burned the O rings on the injection lines.
