Good luck. I majorly demolished my left shoulder a year ago the last 28th of October. Worst pain in my life. Three docs said "Just wait and it will get better.". Year and a half and it ain't happened yet. None of them would even X-ray the thing.
Of course I am old and I smoke. I could go in with a gunshot wound and smoking would be the cause and old and smoking is why it won't ever heal.

I can get help if need be, closer to fall, just to move this winters stash into the shed and on the deck. I do have 2013/14, 2014/15 done, with 2 cords into 2015/16. So I have 9 cords css, and another 1/2 cord to be split when im better. As Dennis would agree, getting ahead isnt just for having quality wood, but securing ones future with heat when life beats you down. I plan on dusting myself off this fall, and processing wood, one of my most enjoyed things to do. Be well
One of the reasons they won't do anything is that shoulder surgery has a lousy record of success. Most of the time it goes south and you end up worse than if it hadn't been done.

Yup, some folks have all the luck
I am older, tore my shoulder cutting hedge. Had the MRI and have a total 6mm tear in one mussel and a partial tear in another. They wanted to do surgery. Said. I would be six months recovering. I have to feed the stove and tend the pets. 6 months seemed just too much. My barber is a state champion in weight lifting. I asked him if he had ever torn a mussel and what did he do about it. He never got surgery. Just kept exercising until the other mussels strengthened. I had a lot of pain for 4 months, but now am much better, very rarely having discomfort, and able to keep up with the work I need to do.

I know exactly what you mean. Many years ago, I got a cut in the garden that looked suspiciously infected. I went to the Dr, he askeed if I smoked. Already knew it, I am sure, as smokers have a kind of scent. First thing you know, he's harping on cigarettes, and not focusing on the reason I came in. Then started to blame everything on smoking.
I did quit smoking about ten years later, best thing I ever did, but if you quit smoking like I did, then they will blame everything on something else, like being overweight, or some other condition.

Not to get off topic, but I have to relate this story:
Years ago I worked for the Motor Vehicle Administration in the Title Department. When someone died, ownership of their vehicle sometimes depended on presenting a death certificate. Death certificates in MD used to have a box for the physician to fill in that said, "Did smoking contribute to cause of death" or something like that. There were three boxes marked YES, PROBABLY and NO.
Now, this poor gentleman, according to the death certificate, died while sitting in this car during a storm and a tree fell on the car and killed him. The physician checked the box marked PROBABLY.
Maybe he had been sitting in his car having a smoke.
