These spalted maple chunks did not make it into the firepit at a friends house last night. One unfortunately did. I already have plans to work these up. The top chunk is tapered, so it will be cut and turned on the lathe. The two large ones on the right are pretty hefty. Being stacked under a porch all winter saved them. The smaller ones were still on the stump and overwintered exposed making them softer and further advanced in the rot stage, so those will be questionable.
