Igniter went out on Whitfield P30, it tripped the 20 amp breaker but the 6 amp inline fuse did not blow. I have had igniters go out before but have never had one trip the breaker or blow the fuse. Any idea why the breaker in the panel would trip but not the fuse? One possibility is that the fuse is a "slow blow" where as the breaker is instantaneous.
 
Is the breaker a GCCI with yellow/white button or the new style ARC fault/GFCI with blue button? If so it may have seen the short and tripped before the over amp reached 6A
 
No, old school Sq D QC regular breaker.
