Inside/Outside Temp Difference

Hi All

I remember reading a post a few months ago about someone who recorded a 100 degree inside/outside temp difference. Just curious what some folks have observed the past week with the arctic wave that's come through. I got about 91 degrees last night. -16 outside and 75 inside at about 9:00pm. We're in Whitefield NH (northern tier of the state) at about 1400 ft.

I had -41 outside and 75 inside at the start of the week. That's a spread of 117.

I guess it pays to know the weather conditions ahead of time. Locally when home heating systems are designed it's for a 70 degree delta t. Sure is nice having the wood stove purring away at these cold temps.

This morning had 74 inside and -18 outside. Which for the record, is a 94 degree difference. Some places in northern Maine had lows in the -40's so they would be way over the 100 degree difference mark.

-5* out and 70* in when I woke up this AM. That was with coals in the stove. Got a good 8 hr burn too. Very please with the Jotul in its first bout with below zero temps.

last night, -6 outside and 89 degrees inside. currently 4 degrees outside and 88 degrees inside. guess I need to get the shorts on! should reach -8 tonight outside.

-27 this morning, and 80 degrees inside, well.... 83 ten feet down the hall from the insert, and 72 in the bedroom 45 feet away...

It was -17.5 this morning outside and 72 in one part of the house with the "30" going and 75 in another part of the house with the resolute. This is the coldest I can remember in my 12 years in southern Maine. I was quite impressed with the wood stoves capabilities under such cold conditions. I guess I will keep burning wood

Two days ago we had a basement temp of 85 and -26 outside=111 degrees dif.

Last night was 85 basement and outside -19=104 dif.

Hmmm. -17 outside and 64 inside this drafty 2500sf witch of a house. Nice place, don't get me wrong, but I've got some caulking to do. The Englander 30 is running balls out to keep it that way, and I'm considering letting the furnace help out. Haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I'm close.

-11 outside and 78 inside for a total difference of 89 (don't overthink the equation, just add the numbers ignoring the minus sign). Very happy with our little Quad Millenium 2100 taking over for the oil furnace in our 1100 sq ft ranch in this unusual cold.

Not to be a nitpicker, but is actually a 116 degree delta. The 0 is already accounted for. A feat of substantial proportions at any rate.

Correct, as stated above, ignore the 2 negative signs and add the numbers together. You can't fool math. Either way, it's cold!!

Thank you, I was starting to think that when it gets this cold either my brain or the laws of mathematics stop working. Regardless, its been cold outside, but we've all been pretty toasty.

Well I am guesing I might win this one. Two weeks ago I had -63 outside and 89 in my livingroom.(A bit of a overfire). So I had a 152 diference in to out. And in a little over a week we had the temps raise 116 outside. It is now +53 out. Weird weather this year.
