Insulation above block off plate

North of Gettysburg, Pa
I have an insert with a masonary chimney that is on the outside of the house and I do have a block off plate. My question is: Should I use the pour in insulation to get to the top of the block off plate? Will this help with the efficiency? Chimney is lined but not insulated and is capped at the top.
