Looking at purchasing one for use with my Jotul Winterport (C350). Looking for best device, best price and with whom to give my money to in your opinion.
Be sure you get one that has coverage for the normal range of woodstove temps. Often cheap ones stop at 650 or 750 degrees. Try to get one that covers up to 1200 if possible, or at least 1000 deg. Search past threads on this topic for links to vendors.
I have an extra one I got off ebay that does 0-1000F. same one that HF sells. I really like it. new in box, and I'm arguably in Eastern CT. PM me if you wannit. I'll give you a good deal (i.e. same pre-tax, pre-shipping price from HF, if you wanna swing over and pick it up)
Thanks Edthedawg, I just bought one yesterday. Looking forward to having some fun pointing it at hot things, like the wife, for years to come. Thanks though.

Just bought one last week off Amazon, a Raytek MiniTemp MT6 (looks like a knockoff of Fluke's model, which looks similar). Got it today via UPS. This is indeed a fun toy! It reads up to 932F according to the instructions. Link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O80B5M/ref=ox_ya_oh_product ($49 + shipping)
Been using it so far to study the temp differences between the different parts of the house... (walls, ceiling vs floor, etc)
Well I see you've already bought one . . . but just to reiterate to other folks who may be looking . . . pay attention to the temp ranges. I almost bought one at Home Depot . . . until I saw the temp limit. As it was I went with the one from HarborFreight and it's worked well with a decent range . . . and it was quite a bit cheaper than the one at Home Depot.
