Is it worth buying a Vermont Castings Defiant Encore 2250 that needs it's upper fire back replaced?

We really need a woodstove that is shorter than 29'' tall for our space. Preferably under 25''. I came across a really nice blue defiant encore 2250 from the 90's. It's 26.5'' tall. It looks to be in good shape, it costs $380 and needs the upper fire back replaced. How much would that cost and how difficult would it be to do?
Any advice in this realm is appreciated.

Frankly, it's not that easy. Also, if it needs the upper, it's a solid bet it needs th lower. And it may need the refractory, catalytic combustor, secondary air probe... It may be a money vampire.

Maybe look for a Vermont castings Intrepid the original one. Top flu is 25" high and rear exit is 21" simpler design stove but a little on the small side. If this is to fit in a fire place maybe consider a modern insert it will have a better fire view and be more efficient.
