Yes it is, I bought one new in 1985 and replaced it with the Hearthstone EQ 2 years ago. It was not a cat. It was a pig but I could load a lot of wood in it at one time.
Looks like my old BK, new in 1982.
Heated my house for many years with it. We got natural gas in the late 90s, so I used it for backup heat.
9 - 10 cord per year when it was my only heat.
Know it well.
Good stove, lots of heat. Blowers nice too.
They made a hot water pipe to go inside to heat hot water via a circulation pump. I had that too.
Old school stove but a very good one.
Guy that bought mine said he didn't want the new type, he burns allot of junk mail, paper, cardboard, plywood etc.
Was happy to get it.
I replaced it last winter with a new BK, king with a cat.
New improvements are impressive.
Natural gas prices skied, so I got a new one. Rebates & tax credits paid for allot of it. (+ I sold the old one for a few 100)
Saved several $100 on gas bill last winter. Hope to do the same this year & the new stove will have paid for itself.
