So I've had a fire going for about 4 hours; got my bed of coals going then reloaded with 3 logs; and shut it down to "medium" according to the manual. Stove top around 550-600 f;
my stove pipe; single wall is around 300f ( low end of the yellow"good burn" area on the thermometer); stove top around 580 f right now wood is pretty much spent ; another 30 min or so and I'll have good coals again
What do I pay more attention too? pipe temp or stove top temp? I have the stove damper closed still some flames. So do I worry if the pipe thermometer drops too low? Or Is it that I 've had a good burn on and as long as stove top temps stay up I've burnt off the creosote causing stuff?
