We haven't burned for a couple of days now. 52º at 9pm, 57º during the day. The jet stream is stuck causing the west to be warm while the east is freezing. We are expecting warm weather for at least the next 10 days. This is April weather in January.

Enjoy it begreen, we had a run like that several weeks back. Right now it's 14 and snowing. Its the lead into the next 18 hours of snow.

Brining the Big Blue Rock out of its overnight snooze. Wind chills to -20 later so coffee and get the girl settled in for the next couple of days is this morning's task and enjoy the show fall.

I just moved what I thought was 3 days of wood from the pile to under the porch by the back door. I’m concerned it’s not enough for the low temps we’re expecting after the crystalline do-hydrogen monoxide falls from the sky. I cleaned ash out of both stoves. If we get 10” tonight and down to low teens tonight and the next we’re going to have everything shutdown until Wednesday

I just read that Toronto has not had it this cold for so long in 10 years. I wonder if the lakes are all frozen.

It does seem that the long range/seasonal forecast are playing out as predicted. Warming polar regions result in more variability of the jet stream that keeps the cold confined to the northern latitudes.

Enjoy it BG- just got into the store this morning, it was reading -6 on my car temp. I've been in SE CT for the past 40 years, this might be the longest stretch of super cold that I remember. But being much older now, it might just be that it affects me more now that its so vivid.. Everybody take care.

The thing is, all of November and part of December was the same way. Not a good year for the ski slopes.

I know, I am hearing it daily from our relatives back east. When I lived up in Cornwall, -15F was the coldest I have ever experienced and it was brutal. Back then however, long cold stretches were more common, often with a foot or more snow.
My big concern now is the upcoming summer. If this trend doesn't change, it could be a hot one.

Ya, confined to 30 deg latitude north (except out west of course). I'd rather have this cold than in Australia where it's 50C at night
