We sold our house in 2024 which had a Castle Serenity pellet stove that was used to heat it. Fortunately for us, the house was sold to a friend of ours.. He never touched the stove and sold it back to me for $230.

I finally found use for the "loading dock" that we have in front of the concrete porch. Made handling this heavy thing pretty easy...until going down the steps.



This will be in the corner next to our Arrow wood stove which we can switch to to run when we are not home. The P-43 will heat upstairs. Maybe I'll update the Castle vs Harman thread someday.

Getting prepared to hook this up. There is some rust inside but wondering if I should do anything about it beforehand or just run it?

Wondering if I could get some ideas for this. The pellet stove is going in the corner of the basement on the same wall that the wood stove is on so we can switch between them depending on our needs. Basement is all block wall but there is a wood chute right where we want to place the pellet stove. The chute is five feet up measures 2' x 1', has metal exterior door, and wooden interior door and is removable. My plan is to convert that chute into semi-permanent wall to run the exhaust through. How would you do this? I am thinking of sandwiching it between two pieces of hardwood maybe, insulate, and drill hole for thimble although I think it may be too deep for the thimble to connect. Any better ideas?

An idea is gut the door and its frame, frame the opening in with PT lumber recessed 3/4” from the face of the foundation on each side. Use a pellet stove through-the-wall kit in the newly framed opening. Insulate with rockwool. Use cement board like 1/2” durarock so now you’re almost flush with the foundation then parge coat the durarock for appearance on the inside and water tightness on the outside. After that it should be flush with the foundation wall face. All that works in my head but without seeing it open/or in person it’s kinda shooting in the dark.

Can you build a frame 2’X 1’using 2”X10” or 2”X12”(or whatever depths you need) and still honour the manufacturer’s clearances to combustibles?
