So, its that time we all start stocking up on Pellets for the 21-22 season. Depending on where you live will depend on how much you need. So everyone list the brand, price and amount that you have purchased for this season.

bought 4 tons Easy Blaze/2 tons Matras in the spring buy..
have 3 Tons Douglas firs in reserve. use close to 4 tons per season.
paid somewhere around 1100 for the 4 tons. Top Softies don't come cheap
but my stove and exhaust pipes stay pretty clean!!
100% difference from BBS stuff.

• 40 bags of Okie Golds (originals, from the fires sale year)
• 35 bags of TSC from last year - they are MWP (Main Wood Pellets)
• 28 bags of Natures Own that I bought off CL this spring for $100

I have 2 tons of TSC (should be MWP's but not a guarantee) on layaway that I will have paid $235/ton for. I ordered these on the last day of the sale because I sold my car and my bike so now I can store pellets in the garage.

Have been checking CL and FB Marketplace but not many individuals selling pellets this year. Probably has something to do with rising price of other home heating fuels.

Bought 3 tons of Pro Pellets at the local TSC for $235/ton. That gives me 5 ton in storage which will cover the most brutal winter. Typically I burn 3-3.5 ton.

The local Family Farm and Home has dropped them to $210/ton. But the drive to get them is less than favorable.

I live in northern michigan, we haven't had a normal winter in a few years. Normally we get 10-15 feet of snow in a season...

Always thought this was interesting. At least the UP. Actually get more snow than we did a century ago, for a span of many decades and that’s just since they started recording.

Here, 2013-2014 was brutal for snowfall. And 2003-2004 was brutal for temps. I went through 6 months of LP in 6 weeks. I was born here, but too young to remember the blizzard of 78.

It’s a good feeling being able to keep as many pellets as I want, not have to rely on getting my LP filled at peak season prices. Cheaper for me to run pellets even at summer prices.

Cheaper than what I could get them at a store and along par for burning as the MWPs. I don't need super duper pellets that cost $300-400 per ton, especially for the P61a which will just gunk up from running extremely short cycles. Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm happy to grab the better pellets off CL for the P43, but middling pellets are just fine for my situation.

do agree that the 'short 'cycles can be a bit dirtier at times...no way around that with any pellets in the big P61a..
i try to do manual burn in that shoulder period if home.

Everything is taxed in Ohio and your sales tax is high too. I go to Menards in Toledo and I keep remind them their 11% off is really 4% off factoring in Lucas County 7% tax.

On fuel...

Have 2.5 ton of Michigan Hardwood left from last year, bought an additional 2 ton at TSC for $208.00 each (no tax) and I just laid in 7 ton of no germ seed corn from down the road and all it cost me was the diesel in the tractor to go fetch it. This year it's all on skids in 53 pound Tyvek stitched close sacks.

I believe I own the most expensive to operate bio mass stove (66% corn, 33% pellets) in Michigan and probably Ohio as well.

A 53 pound sack of germ seed corn retails for about $330.00 a bag and I can burn 2 bags a day when it's cold out. 660 clams every 24 hours + pellets or about 675 clams in 24.

That is a whole lotta clams....

Yep. Your absolutely right! Everything is taxed in Ohio. They'd tax a corpse if they could figure out how to collect it.

All the different counties have all different types of taxes and yes they would tax a corpse if they could figure out how to collect (ABW)..Our little bit of monies is being munched on everyday and I am not optimistic here and just trying to prepare for the future here and it is the time of year to get real ready for a "possibly" cold, cold winter.-ugh..clancey

I remember last year, the Wallyworld across the road had pellets stacked up outside in front of the store, in the rain, turning to mush. I laughed to myself about that. Don't live up there, just own property there, 154 acres of mixed hardwood for camping and hunting. Belongs to the family. Do like it up there. I open carry and have no issue. I usually pack a 44 revolver or a 45 Kimber. Down here, that would be a ticket to the lockup. Up there no one pays any attention and more often than not, they are carrying as well.

I'm supposing on last years prices. With inflation going ape, it's probably more like 350 a sack or more. I'll have to get the retail pricing and let everyone know. Any way you 'burn' it, I have the most expensive bio mass stove anywhere around these parts. I do have to roast the Tyvek sacks. They are machine stitched and tatted so not reusable. Pallets get returned. Hardwood pallets are 12 bucks each (last year) by the truckload. I prefer it in sacks over bulk. Easier to store and easier to access. In bulk, I have to auger it into a grain tank and then take it out by the 5 gallon bucket full (have a bucket spout on the tank).

I mix up 4 large plastic garbage cans of pellet-corn mix and plop that on the back deck with a fork lift and that lasts a week or more depending on how cold it is.
