Hello looking to purchase my first fireplace insert for my 1500sf ranch. Has anyone had experience with the new Jotul Rockland C550 v2? Seems to be in my price range and looks very nice (also qualifies for the tax credit)

Appreciate any feedback thanks!

The C550 has been off the market since 2020. This is their new EPA replacement and just showing up on the market. It will take a season or two of regular use to know how the insert works out. I'm glad to see it back but dubious of the cat having no flame shield.

Ahh thanks for pointing out the cat (must have missed that in the specs). I’m leaning toward a flush mount non cat but having trouble picking a unit that seems reliable. The VC Montpelier looks great but reviews seem to be on the negative side. I really like the cast iron look over some of the more modern designs but the selections seem limited

The Montpelier (and the Quad Expecition II) have removed a lot of user control over the burn. They're still good for night and weekend burning. Check out the non-cat PE Alderlea T5 and the Hampton HI2450 inserts to see if they will fit.
