Hi there,
I’m a very new user to wood stoves- I’ve never owned one.
I am building a home and am ready for a stove install. I found a Jotul f12 on Facebook marketplace for $1400. It looks like it’s in good condition but I would love to hear a more seasoned opinion if anyone has a moment to look at the photos attached.

I will pick it up this week if you all think it’s worth the asking price and that any hidden parts that need to be replaced aren’t too costly. Or maybe you can share what I should look when I go see it, before buying.

Thank you!
Zach

It looks to be in very good condition, but one would need to inspect it closely on site for any cracks. The price is a bit high for this old stove. $900-1000 would be more realistic. This is a large, catalytic stove. The cat may need reppacement and possibly new gaskets could be an additional expenses.

This is not the best stove for a new stove owner. It is complexly constructed. There are simpler stoves that may be more appropriate.
