Friends, I apologize, but I cannot see how to start a new thread here. And, all the Jotel 602 discussions are ancient.
But, I would be grateful if anyone here could advise me. I have two Jotul 602 stoves. Just plain 602, no glass door, surely 30+ years old.
We have been very happy with them, and they are just right for the rooms they heat.
I want to replace just one that we use a lot, to get a cleaner burning stove and use less wood. I know the new 602s are expensive, but we use it a lot and I, fortunately, can afford it.
I am planning to get a new Jotul 602 with the glass door and all the improvements. Are there any things that I should consider in this decision?
Thanks very much, and Happy New Year. --Richard Santa Cruz, CA

I'm not familiar with the 602 but maybe I can bump this by offering some generic insight.
In general new EPA compliant stoves are much more sensitive to wood quality, especially water content. So you'll need to watch that. The flip side is that this also usually results in better burn efficiency so you may find you're hauling and burning less wood.
