It's been a while since I actually posted about my stove... So far, these past few years have been awesome and she has been cooking. I haven't had to rely on the stove as much since we got natural gas service and a really nice furnace - but the stove still gets plenty of use.
I noticed the glass gasket was basically missing. The glass rattles when I walk by the stove. I also have to imagine that this would explain why this stove has been eating up the wood this past season.
Long story short, I figured it's about time for some gasket maintenance. I am looking at part 200028 via the manual. Seems to be the right one I am looking for. Also per the manual, looks to be applied to the door, measured so the gasket can come down the right side, across the bottom, and back up the left side. The top is left un-gasketed. It also mentions to leave about 1 1/4" of "tail" on each side, so add 2.5" to the total length. Snug up the glass, then take the tails on each side, fold them over, twist it so the adhesive is facing the glass, and press it on.
This seems simple enough, assuming I am picturing this right in my head. Am I oversimplifying this or is it just this easy? I'm not sure about why the "tails" are necessary, but I don't remember getting a visual on the gasket when I got the stove. Any tips, tricks, or issues I could hit doing this? I figured this is low risk since apparently I have been running with no glass gasket for this long!
Lots of good resources here for part sourcing, so I appreciate the existing history on this kind of stuff. Dollar bill test on the door gasket seemed fine, so I may wait on that and just try out the glass for now.
