Hi all,

Been some time since I posted but have a question for fellow Oslo owners / experts....

My Oslo is about six years old now and I've had no troubles at all. I love this stove and it works just right for the house I have. I figured it was time to replace the side door and ash pan door gaskets. They were original and the dollar bill test said it was time for new. I've also noticed that the control lever was not as effective at dampening down the fire.

I got 3/8" gasket material and the adhesive in a kit at the local hardware store and replaced the gaskets. They definitely made the door seem to close "tighter" but it seems after a few weeks I have a leak again, particularly on the side door.

Is there a special size, maybe metric, I should have used? What else may I have missed? I really hope there is no warpage to the door...is there a good way to check?

Thanks,

JD

Well, found the Oslo manual online and it calls out 3/8" gasket so I got that part right. I need to double check everything and see if I can find any leaks besides the side door.

Hi

Did you stretch the gasket when putting it in? That could be a problem. I just lay mine down gently so as to get a nice even seal that really meets the size requirement.
