They told me they have has their pellets for the past month already. Here is what they have.
Green team $ 280
Presto logs $218
Green supreme $ 218
North American $218

I personally think the Prestos are the best deal here and the best pellet in this lot. I will use these as a shoulder pellet. One other thing to note the guy on the phone said that lowes is changing there policy. No longer can you pay for your Pellets and pick them up when you want. He said people were using them as their own storage facility. Not anymore. You pay for them and get them delivered or you pay for them and take them then and there. No more holding for them. Just figured I would let you all know in case that was anyone's plan this year. You may need to rethink your pellet storage situation.

Poughkeepsie lowes allowed me to pick up my 3 tons over the weekend, fri. sat. and sun. Paid for them Fri. night. Actually was the best box store experience I've had in a while. Nice folks.

Looks like each store is going to have a different policy

PTL's get my vote too!

Really. Guess I missed the likes last winter. See my Lowes is also asing premium prices on Greene team, and much lower on the New England pellets made in NY.

PTL, Timber Heat and FSU were the choice/bargain at the boxstore(for me) last season.

Same for me in the SE NY area. GT's were about $40/ton higher.

I got Timber Heat(Dry Creek), Premium (AWF), and they also had a store brand that I think are really Somersets. They also had nasty Green Supreme (NEWP).....all of those were $209

Is there something about Green Supremes?
(broken link removed to http://greensupremewoodpellets.info/2.html)

1 Ton of Wood Pellets is Equal to:
  • 120 gallons #2 heating oil
  • 170 gallons propane
  • 16,000 cubic feet of natural gas
  • 1.5 cords of wood
I just checked out oil company
150 Gallons $3.249 $487.35

Therefore
120 Gallons $3.249 $389.88

I know the original Jaffrey NH plant had good pellets but I think there is a newer plant near you?

Given that you're one of the members who spends a LOT of time on here, it's hard to believe you don't know how bad they are. The majority of the forum members that have burned them and reported have found out how poor they are.

Not everyone, but the great majority.

I went out at lunch time and the Raritan NJ Home Depot has Stove Chow @ $196 ton. I'll pass, but I know some guys loved it.

Just curious why you would pass on these. I know one of the reasons why I bought a Harman was so I didn't have to be so picky on pellets.

wish the lowes by me had prestos....

they have Green Team which I assume are priced high like last year and
infernos I beleive

Yes, but its over a hour each way from western Ct. SO figure it would net out $350 per ton ( pellet + Gas), not including what my drive time is worth :(

Yes, they are better than average. Even our resident pellet guru Jay T. burns em.

picked up a ton of green supremes for 208.00 at lowes today, i burned 3 tons of these last year, don't see what the big deal is...

I could burn them too.....that doesn't make them good. They're just crappy NEWPS in another bag.

Try some better pellets and you may see the difference, especially when it's really cold out.

I burned them last year and was not impressed by the heat output at all. Not to mention all of the ash. I burned the Prestos right after and it made a big difference. Wife hated them too. Enough said!

Interesting that you were not happy with the heat output. Your Harman should regulate the pellets used to maintain the set heat output. Do you mean that you ran through pellets more quickly?

No. I mean that I don't like the heat output. I rarely need to change settings on my stove. I try to maintain the same settings except for the fan speed. When I used Stove Chow on a cold day(30's or 40's) it was never able to maintain 73 in my house. The Prestos met and exceeded that temp. If I put the Hamers in for the same temps with my stove at the same settings, my house would easily be in the 80's.

Interesting. That is not the way my Harman works. Or many of other forum members Harmans work.

Edit: Maybe there were other factors at play when you were using the Stove Chow that were causing more heat loss...
