Keeping warm in the snow!

Nick, your house and land is beautiful! We are at 4,000 ft. elevation in western North Carolina and got a couple additional inches of snow at our home. We have a Progress Hybrid that kept us warm ! So thankful that we switched from using propane a few years ago!

Our elevation here outside of Marion, NC is at about 1400ft. We also have a forced air propane furnace for the house, but we've only run it a few times in the fifteen years we've lived here. In addition to the Jotul F600 we also have a Woodstock Classic in the lower level of the house where my man cave is located. I fire it up when I'm down there watching football, but the rest of the time I burn the Jotul in the living room upstairs.

We are up in the Glenville area heading towards Cats Paw on Rough Mountain. It's beautiful up here but being in the "saddle" between two mountains we can get quite a bit of snow and winter weather. We installed the PH about 3 years ago. It has been an incredible performer. Our house is warm even on the below 0 degree nights. I had a smoke dragon when I lived in Franklin but this woodstove is amazing! It truly is hard to believe that it is in February and I've only used about 1 1/2 cords so far this winter.

Going down to about 10 for several nights, though...

It's currently 16 degrees here heading down to the single digits tonight. I'm burning some really seasoned red oak over night ! We are going to be really warm!

Red Oak is the predominant wood available here, but in the canvas tote there's one small White Ash split on top, the rest is Pignut Hickory...I'm ready.
I like these snows that are just enough to make it pretty when we look out the window; I grew up in WI and have no desire to be buried under feet of the white stuff any more.
