Hello friends so i've managed to acquire some more wood this summer via craigslist just thought i'd share it and get some of these species confirmed!

So....
1-2- Pine of some sort?
3- the stack containing all of the pieces in the next 6 pictures
4- Honey locust? I know its locust of some sort, heavier than any log I've scrounged before.
5- Oak, White/red/black who knows
6- hedge or mulberry, although i've had mulberry before and this is a lot brighter
7 - End grain pic of #5
8-9 Ash? **(leaves are from a bush behind it, not from any of the logs) Splits burned the well the next day.

How longs locust usually take to dry out? by how heavy it was I'm gonna guess as long as oak but i don't know.

1840--Hickory? Blurry pic... 1843,1844--Oak...telltale medullary rays. 1845--Yeah, could be Ash I guess... 1846--Looks like possible Shingle Oak leaves and bark...

Woody, 1840 was just a picture of the scrounged logs, then the pictures after that are specifics. I agree its poor quality. And in 1846 those leaves are from a bush behind me pile, not the log itself.

1-2. Cedar
4. Need bark pics
5. Red oak
6. Hedge maybe? Not real sure on that one
8-9. Looks like hickory to me

Yep you got some red cedar their, the hairy stuff, use that to impress your neighbors when you burn outside, the others you should take pics separately to help you get accurate ids...

Thanks for the help fellas. I found out #4 is honey locust, and i'll get pics of 8-9's splits tomorrow for ya, from my years of playing baseball the grains looked just like an ash bat.

1845 looks like the Ash pinhole in the center

I have found that locust burns like real wood after three years. It's great stuff but has to be dry to give you the BTU's
Less time you have to add other kinds of wood to keep it going.
