Gotta get that stuff off the ground
I have oak flooring slats under it the grass is a little tall.
Yes corey, I too would like to see a bit more air under the wood. You could use some of those splits to make 2 rows to stack on or the next time you go to the woods, cut some saplings (straight ones) that are anywhere from 3-6" diameter. You can cut them into 4' lengths or whatever you are comfortable with and they make great runners under the wood pile. They will also last for a few years so you do not have to replace every year. Or, you could use something like landscape timbers to stack wood on. Just get it a bit higher if at all possible. You'll like it once you do it.
are those splits ready to burn? if not it looks like a nice sunny area...never had poplar, have no idea how long it takes to dry. Good score!
Poplar, like most softwoods tend to dry rather quickly. We've burned some after only 6 months.
This is in a very sunny spot.
This wood was just cut down last month not ready yet.
Yes, it would! I used to make MONSTER splits (could barely get them into the stove!), now I make almost all of them 4x4 to 6x6 max. Most of them are on the smaller side, because they are more consistent when drying out.......Got a Question.
Would re splitting the big splits help them burn better the small ones burn great but the big ones may not be ready to burn just yet?
Thank you.Yes, it would! I used to make MONSTER splits (could barely get them into the stove!), now I make almost all of them 4x4 to 6x6 max. Most of them are on the smaller side, because they are more consistent when drying out.......
I'm wanting one BIG storm.....and after that, I'll be just as ready for spring as you are......Thank you.
I hope winter comes to an end before long i hate to say that.....
