Just got back from hauling the 1st load home. my saw is getting a workout today!

Im pretty sure this is oak. some of it is 3ft in diameter.

It looks like Red Oak to me. Usually Red Oak is great to split, but that one looks like it'll be a challenge - lots of Ys and knots.

just picked up trailer load of white oak all bucked up - it was in front of house by the road so Llamaman did the reverse phone lookup - nice lady returned my message and said I was welcome to it..........this scrounging is great sport - wife thinks I am getting obsessive and weird about it! (she is correct)

Im guessing theres about 2.5-3 cords total there. I usually haul about 1/4 cord on my trailer each trip with avg. size rounds. Im guessing i brought home about a cord today but I havent even tackled the really large rounds yet. Whoever took the tree down left the sections in 4-5ft lenghts so theres a lot of cutting involved. Its pretty freaking heavy too, even with the hand truck. I'll be back tomorrow morning as long as the rain holds off. Supposed to get a lot of rain the next few days....I hate working in the mud.

I usually ID trees by leaves but all the limbs were removed by the tree company and the owner didnt know what it was. This is my first white oak i've picked up. Ive split red oak before and this looked a little different. Im going to split it thin to help dry it out faster...I can wait 2 years but 3 is pushing it lol. Thanks for the confirmation on the tree type.

WOW! Someone really cleaned the place out last night after I left. It had to have been a crew of guys w pro gear, no way 1 person with avg. homeowner equipment could of cleared out all those big rounds themselves between 2pm and 7pm. There was 1 big piece of oak left and the rest is pine. Hell its only 10 mins away from my house so I figured I'd load up on some pine for the shoulder season instead of calling it a day. The rain is supposed to be here around 1pm or so so I only have a few more hours to load up.
