I’m on my 3rd King in 38 years (#3 new this year, the previous went to a good home in a village) and burn average 6 cords/year, about 75-80% spruce by volume.
I’ve been processing from logs myself for last 7 years.
Occasionally I’m guilty of watching BK YouTubes, sometimes even ones about other inferior stoves.
One thing that always happens is the user in the video invariably loads the stove, hot or cold, with bare hands. I always mumble “idiots” etc, usually just to my cats.
Do people in real life actually do that without gloves??? I am very partial to fleece insulated split cowhide and always have several “active” pairs plus some new ones in waiting.
Is it just poetic license or do real people actually handle cordwood and work close to 250-300F steel barehanded?
