I am new to hearth.com and welcome all opinions. I am currently building a new home in the Texas Hill Country and my builder only had a few options on the fireplace. Out of his choices the nicest and most exspensive was a Lennox Estate 50 believe its the signature Estate series. The living room is 22x 55 with 22' tall ceilings . Im looking on opinions on this product. Thanks in advance for all opinions.

Is the main purpose of the fireplace to provide ambiance? Because the Estate won't really provide heat. In fact, its energy balance may be negative as it will draw heated air from other rooms to fuel the combustion and send it up the chimney. Apparently, it has an option of using outside air; may be an idea to avoid losing heat and diminish drafts. There are other models from Lennox as well as other manufacturers that give you a nice view of the fire and can give you substantial heat similar to a wood stove. For example the Lennox Montecito or Solana. They will be more expensive, though.
