Okay, I have the opportunity to buy either of these pellets for this winter, they are both around the same price per ton ($255 for the LG's and $265 for the La Crete's), which one is generally considered the better pellet or are they pretty much equal?

Not many complaints on either, to be honest..
A good way to find out for yourself, is to buy both...
test them under like conditions, say in dead of winter, for a week each..
A lot of people really like that idea..
funny... the BBS in our area are selling their stuff now, for only a little less spread
to "good stuff" than ever before.. in some cases MORE...
You will not be disappointed with either, IMO...

We really like the LG Granules here - burn clean, excellent heat, on par w/ the Cleanfire Pacifics.
We were burning both during the coldest stretch in Feb. / March, we will be burning LG Granules again this winter.. I may have to change my screen name on the forum.

I wish I could buy LGs for $255 a ton. Wow.
I like both LGs and CleanFire Pacific. The CleanFire Pacific are slightly lower ash and hotter but $15 more expensive.

Feeling the Heat
Burnt about 15 bags of both last season. La crete burned better in my stove a lot hotter. This year I am trying blazer for the first time
Bought 3 ton at 299 per ton back in June for prebuy. Hoping these are as good as everyone reports.

Are you sure that is not for a pallet? (1.2Ton) That would still be high, though @325..
We are currently at $285/Ton.

It is probably the 1.2. I typically never go beyond 300 a ton.
The guy selling the La Crete's around here is selling the 1.2 ton pallet (60 bags) for $318 which he said figures out to be $265 per ton.
Then wait to change your screen name....
Thanks, going to pickup some test bags of LaCrete's and give them a try at the start of the season.

The LGs left very little to scrape and not a lot of ash, but clearly gave off less heat than the other brands I tried.
N. Idaho and Spruce Pointe seemed hottest, also did LaCrete and Turman, which were good for heat.) I bought a ton this year to use at very beginning and end of the season, when I don't need as much heat and don't want my stove to run on one/lowest setting most of the time.
LaCrete's were fine, and I know many folks here have raved about them. I read more mixed reviews from this past year; I had to do more scraping with them than Spruce Pointe, another softwood priced slightly cheaper. I chose not to buy LaCrete's again this year, but realize that everyone's stove/conditions vary and that some fluctuation in quality may happen from year to year, at least in some brands.

That is very true, my dad's stove has a hard time with hardwood and a mix he need all softwood for it run perfectly.
