I swept the liner today.
And it is with some sadness, I pulled my loyal heating beast of the Summit insert out.
She is going to be replaced with a new insert.
The Summit handled the job steadily since new in 2006.
Through some trials & tribulations, she overcame some obstacles, and continued to perform each winter.
I was given an offer I could not refuse, so out she comes, and I pick up her replacement tomorrow.
I am not going to tell you what is being set in place, until I get it installed and then, and only then, will I post pictures of the new insert to take on the fearless job of heating this house.
Stay tuned, same Bat time, same Bat Channel.....

Give us hints and we will try to guess. ==c

Is that shield something you fabbed up? Is it attached to the stove?

Seems like you're really saying goodbye to the Summit....
But, if memory serves, the new Summit with changed EBT might float your boat...........hmmmmm.
In any event, thanks for your many helpful posts re the care and feeding of your old friend.

Is this the 'future install of Summers Heat 50' ?

That is the outer casing that comes with the insert. Keeps the heat around the insert and sets up the convection I assume.

Alright Hog, I'm on board. I'm very curious what sort of shady deal you worked out with seemingly the Corleone family. I hope this does not involve a horse head or swimming with fishes.

I love the way you presented this! A guess whats next thread, i like it! Do you care if I steal the idea in a few weeks?

He's teasing the forum and it's not even our stove.

Only a couple steel stoves worthy of replacing the Summit insert, Buck and BK.(since you're sticking with an insert) Glad to see you're making the switch to a CAT stove. j/k ;lol

The Princess was my guess.

Ladies and gentlemen good evening
You've seen that seeing is believing
Your ears and your eyes will be bleeding
Please check to see if you're still breathing

Okay, the replacement was picked up today, and is installed today.
Had to pull apart some of the block off plate, but did not have to lift the liner at all, thank God!

Behold......
Feast your eyes on the new heating bioch of this house!!!!!!!!

TA DA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They didn't give me a new door, and that was part of the original deal.
So I will be emailing the distributor tomorrow.

If I was merely shopping fora new insert, and had the cash, I might have gone for a Princess.
Never the less, I am very happy with that I have so far.
I think I may be one of few to have the distinct honor of comparing the prior style to this new B model.
EBT is set up differently, and now adds the air to the secondary, rather than the primary as twas in the old model.
The EBT is now gravity operated rather then temperature triggered.

One other thing. Those of you with the old model, pull your EBT once every few years, as the two times I did, both had some dead insects & bees in there.
Could be an issue of blocking the flapper from opening/closing all the way. Not a high percentage, but not worth the chance.

The old one is in the barn, I hate to even put it there, but no room in the house for it.
Not sure what I will do with it. Maybe hook it up in the garage or who knows.
Shame to let a good burner sit and collect dust.

Here she is...............

PS.
I am letting the bricks lay out to dry out. They were literally soaking wet.
I need to grind the bottoms of the ones that it over the EBT bolt heads & the air intake leaver stud weld in the floor of the firebox, to rest flush over top.

And the reason you swore me to secrecy that you were getting another Summit is exactly what?? ;lol

Good looking heater. Kinda looks like the other one did a few years ago.

Sneaky, Sneaky... I was even researching stove shops near you, trying to determine what you might get, and all this time, IT WAS INSTALLED! Looks real good dude, congrats! Now for some cold weather, right? :D

2006 seems so long ago LOL
Note the new cast iron top and ash lip.
The new one also has a smaller fan each side, rather then the large one on the right side.
And the EBT is now in the back instead of the front.
Even the old door fits much better on the new insert, then the original insert.
I think the first one always has door problems.
Hoping the come through with the new door to finish this off.

MUHAHAHAH,
Such a big build up, to come to this LOL.
I pulled the old out yesterday, picked up and installed the new today. Your research took too long.
I do have battle wounds from the remove & install though. That is typical.
I can wait a bit for the cold weather, cause by the time January comes round, they thrill will be gone and I will be wanting spring.
