I see Poplar and Ash. Hoping it isn't all Poplar. Will not be able to get split pics for a while.

Could be all ash. I was in the same boat a couple of days ago. Picked my friends burn pile. Had many logs I couldn't decide if they were pop or ash.

All the logs are Ash but the big rounds in the background look like a really large Aspen. Nice pile...how did you come by that? Are you in the range for the Emerald Ash Borer?

The central parts of the states seem to grow huge Ash trees. I dont see them that big here.

That makes this one my best score yet. The stuff in the background. Is a mix of poplar, pine/hemlock, beech and black walnut. Another question was the source. I put an ad on CL offering my lot behind my business if tree guys needed to unload. These two piles came from that.

Thought I'd put up some in-process pics of today's "labor" contribution to Labor Day weekend. It isn't just Ash. There are two logs of Black Walnut and several Poplar.

I'm in the same boat Andy. I dropped a problem ash in the yard Friday night- 25" DBH, finished bucking and started splitting and stacking yesterday. I'd be out there right now splitting but the tree is on the bedroom side of the house and Mrs Chumley would probably not be happy about that

I know this much... "Miller Time" is not meant to be enjoyed by people old enough to remember the commercials. It was rigor mortis time. Just got here to subject myself to more. No neighbors or wives to worry about. Just an empty industrial park.

Ok I'm tapping out. 95% of what I cut is split/stacked on that skid, pile measures 46" wide, 16' long and 5' at the highest point, all done by me. Add that to the 12 cord I have c/s/s and the second pic is what I've scrounged so far this year. That will get c/s/s when it's cooler out. Cord calculator says ~ 1.8 cord but probably 1/5th of that is some cherry I stacked (towards the back) in the spring

Great work, Mr. Chumley! I tapped about 45 minutes ago. I took me that long to walk to my desk to upload the pics. I'm spent and it isn't as much wood as I thought. The stack is only 1.25 cords (15' x 32" x 4'). The pile is the balance of the rounds from the logs added to the earlier load.

Same to you Mr Andy I cheated and uploaded them from my phone. All in all it was a productive few days. Now that tree is down I don't need to wear my hard hat when I now my lawn around that tree haha! It was dropping some good size limbs
