Looking for an answer as to why this black cherry is rotted out in the center. Cut down a few days ago. And I have Locust and white walnut/butternut that was recently cut down in the same condition. They are somewhat close to wetlands but I would estimate 30 to 40 feetup a steep hill from the wetlands.

She loves them, and still uses them after several years now. I guess if they make her happy, they're more valuable for this purpose than fuel. I can always cut more trees
