Is that your rig? I gotta get a knuckle boom like that; what is it a prentice?
How much? I’d guess a grand. Is it mostly Maple? And maybe a little bit of Poplar from the looks of it.No just a load I got delivered

Nice! Some of my neighbors buy truck loads like that from the local loggers but it’s usually Maple with a little pop at times since there’s not much oak here in Winter but there is in the Hayward area and when I go to Rice Lake on 48 there miles and miles of nothing but oak filled woodlands. I scrounge all of my wood but when I see someone get a load like that it makes me drool a bit lol. Nice buy!Matter of fact, it was all either red or white oak (pretty much all white) and 2 random sticks of paper birch. I’ve only split a little bit but it’s all nice sized with no rounds being too heavy to lift. $950 from a local logger, 10-12 cords and well worth it for me to get ahead from the comfort of my own firewood processing area

This was in November before I bought the load.. I pulled home 4 trailers like that, 80” logs. I have a skidsteer and loaded with that but these jumbo rounds are tough to work up even if I do get 20 splits out of one. One might ask why I bought a load of logs and to that I say why not. I have a very stressful job and firewood processing has always been a release for me. It’s been fun being able to process so much wood so easily and have space to stack it like it should be. I’ll get a more recent pic of the pile it got longer..
I should call the tree guy down the highway up here but there’s so many who burn wood up here I’d think that many have already asked them. But it wouldn’t hurt to ask I guess....Tree services will often bring you a load for free. They can only process and sell so much (if they do firewood at all), and are often looking to get rid of a truckload from their latest job. (On the other hand, you don't get to pick when or what kind of wood you get.)

Around me too, they all know they can make a few extra bucks and won' give it awsg. The tree services around me all seem to sell firewood as a side business. I’ve seen some advertised for ok prices but I don’t know what you get. Could be crap yard trees. $400 for 4-6 cord mixed hardwoods is what I usually see advertised so I went with the sure thing.
I did the math for me and it would only save me $10 a FC if I had a log load delivered vs split delivered. Not worth it for prices around here.
Yeah..it just varies so much that it is almost impossible to discuss on a nationwide forum.Other than the occasional good deal one might come across here, the going rate for a cord of green cut and split is $325-375. I see it as high as $500 delivered for “dry” firewood in the Twin Cities area. Guess it shows the local demand pretty clearly.
