I know there is another post about this but I didn’t want to hijack his post. Anyway, I’m looking for recommendations for a good wood fireplace instead. I have a two story house (splanch) not expecting to heat the entire house maybe just the downstairs. When I moved in almost two years ago they had a fireplace insert already and it works awful and is soooo poorly installed. If anyone can give me some recommendations and advice that would be greatly appreciated. I will also skim more through this page. Thanks. I’ll also attach pictures of my current insert so you can get a good laugh.

Yes, that is a bit hokey and undersized. Take it out and sell it. Measure the fireplace opening, depth and rear H & W. That will determine what will fit. Is there a proper stainless steel liner all the way up the chimney?

Do you have a good supply of fully seasoned and stacked firewood for this season?

Hi, yes I have stacked wood for this season and there is a stainless steel liner going all the way up the chimney. I didn’t even think to try to sell it, good idea. Thanks.
